Secret Chocolate Chip Recipe

I never told you all about the story of this chocolate chip cookie recipe. So here it goes. One of my friends at BYU had a neighbor growing up who made THE best chocolate chip cookies. However, she wasn't keen to sharing her recipe with my friend, or anyone in general; she wanted people to ask her to make cookies. "Needy" (at least that's the impression I got). Anyway, after about seven years, my friend finally convinced the neighbor to leak the coveted recipe. She gave it to me one night when we were making them. I think I caught her in a good moment.

And now you all have it, because I think it's silly and ridiculous to keep this to myself. And because people should want me around for more than just chocolate chip cookies.

1/2 C. Butter
1/2 C. Sugar
1/2 C. Brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 C. flour
1 1/2 C. chocolate chips (I usually use about 1 C.)

Cream butter and sugars. Add egg and vanilla. Mix in salt, baking soda and flour. Stir in chocolate chips. Bake at 350 for 8-10 mins.

I've also found that on really humid days in NYC, these need a tad bit more flour.
